We’re happy to welcome well-behaved four-legged guests. Please do keep them under control at all times while on the property and do not leave them alone in the house. We also kindly ask owners to clean after their pets and to bring bedding/towels for pet use. The bedding and towels that we provide are for human use.

Please note that a maximum of six guests are allowed at the property (this is a licensing requirement). No visitors, no smoking (including vaping), no parties or events and no commercial photography/videography is allowed.

Shetland sees its fair share of snow, gales and bright sunny days in winter, which can be spectacular. The track leading to the house and the parking area are not gritted or ploughed, and can therefore become icy or covered in snow in winter. Please do exercise extra caution when walking or driving up the track in such conditions.

North Wart is over a hundred years old and like most such old houses in Shetland, it has its quirky aspects. Some doorways and part of the corridor in the cottage are low as can be expected from this type of property, so if you're approx 5’8” or taller we do recommend that you exercise extra caution when passing through these areas. There are also low steps leading to some of the rooms.

At North Wart we’re very keen to support all types of wildlife. For this reason we do not strim/mow the lawns on a regular basis but let it grow into a summer meadow. The grasses will set seed, wildflowers can bloom and provide nectar, and the longer stems create a sheltered microclimate for birds and other small creatures. The lawns are mowed again in late autumn.
